Privacy Policy

1. Data that stays on your device

The following is stored only in the local database and settings on your device. It is never transmitted to us and never stored on a server we control:

• Your learning progress: words studied, correct and incorrect answers, review dates
• Daily streak, daily goal, missions, badges and level information
• Selected categories, theme preference, sound and notification settings
• Your game results

Deleting the app removes this data from your device. You can create a backup at any time from Profile › Manage your data and move it to another device. Where that backup file is stored, and who you share it with, is entirely under your control.

2. Account and identity information

The app never asks for your name, email address, phone number or location. There is no registration and no login.

3. Advertising

The free version shows ads through Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, AdMob may process device identifiers, IP address and general device information. This data is collected and processed by Google under its own privacy policy: policies.google.com/technologies/ads

• App Tracking Transparency (iOS): the app asks for your permission through the system dialog before showing personalised ads. If you decline, the app works exactly the same — ads are simply non-personalised.
• GDPR consent (Europe): in regions where it is required, Google’s UMP consent form is shown. You can change your choice later from the ad settings inside the app.
• Subscribing turns ads off entirely.

4. Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by the App Store. We never see or store your payment details. The app only receives whether a subscription is active, and keeps that flag on the device. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.

5. Microphone and speech recognition

In Speaking Practice, the microphone is used only while you actively press the record button. What you say is transcribed by your operating system’s speech recognition service; depending on your device settings, this may happen on Apple’s servers (iOS) or Google’s (Android). We do not store your audio and never upload it anywhere. The transcribed text is shown to you on screen and discarded when the session ends.

6. Notifications

Reminder notifications are scheduled locally on your device. You are not required to grant notification permission — the app works without it.

7. Analytics and crash reports

The app does not collect individual usage analytics. Apple may provide aggregated, anonymous performance and crash statistics for apps distributed through the App Store; these contain no identifying information and depend on your device’s analytics sharing setting. Where Google Firebase infrastructure is configured, Firebase may process a device identifier and technical information in order to operate: firebase.google.com/support/privacy

8. Third-party content sources

Word definitions, example sentences and frequency data are compiled from openly licensed sources (Tatoeba, Wiktionary, hermitdave/FrequencyWords) and bundled inside the app. This content ships with the app; using it does not connect to those sites and sends them no data. Attribution and licence details are on the About screen inside the app.

9. Children’s privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from them.

10. Your rights

Because your data is held on your device, you can access, correct and delete it directly. For requests under the GDPR, the UK GDPR or Turkey’s KVKK, you can contact us; where we hold no records about you, we will tell you so.

11. Deleting your data

• In the app: Profile › Manage your data, then reset your progress.
• Or delete the app from your device, which removes all of its local data.

Cancelling a subscription is a separate action, handled through the App Store.

12. Changes to this policy

If this policy is updated, the date at the top of this page changes. Significant changes will also be announced inside the app.
